[origin: EP0562141A1] the invention relates to a setting (1) for precious stones for jewellery of all types made of precious metal, in which relatively large areas are set with precious stones covering the entire area, having a wide upper side of the jewellery, in which there are arranged many small precious stones which are round seen from above of larger and, compared thereto, slightly smaller diameter having a conical tip and a rondiste closely adjacently on the surface of the metal jewellery casing (3) in conical setting funnels (6 and 7), whose coordinates are precisely determined in advance, in each case in longitudinal rows (A and B) alternately offset relative to one another leaving the smallest possible gaps (8) for the stems for setting the larger precious stones, the setting funnels (6) being arranged deeper for the smaller precious stones so that the larger precious stones cover the small ones when inserted. By means of the setting (1) for precious stones according to the invention, an area coverage of 95 % with precious stones which are round in contour is advantageously achieved, thus producing the impression of a linked area of precious stones. <IMAGE>
