[origin: EP0562230A1] Starting from the known state of the art, the object on which the invention is based is to indicate a process and a device for carrying it out, which makes it possible to exclude deficiencies, for example knots, present and recognised in weft threads from weaving, without any appreciable outlay in terms of apparatus and control. The object is achieved, according to the invention, in that, when a deficiency is detected in the weft thread, a signal for a program for eliminating the deficiency is started, simultaneously and automatically with an initiated weaving stop, by means of a sensor (9) arranged in front of the weft-thread insertion member (8), in such a way that thread wefts are delivered in a numerically predetermined quantity or in a predetermined period of time, and thereupon the weaving stop is cancelled and the weaving machine is put into operation again. <IMAGE>
