[origin: EP0562992A1] The invention is in the field of systems for surveillance of protected areas. Access to the areas is governed by an access control system activating and checking the remote actuation of locks or of electric motors (30, 32) associated with the elements for closing the areas. So as to reduce the manufacturing and installation costs, the system provides a control unit (8) equipped with power circuits (14A) and with an interface (14B) linked to the sensors (31, 33) associated with the locks. The control unit (8) comprises a processing unit and first memory-storage means (21) containing a surveillance program, the said program consisting of a main program and of at least one program module specific to the actuating means (30, 32) and to the associated sensors (31, 33) used. <IMAGE>
