[origin: EP0563577A1] The device according to the invention relates to the setting of the venting gap on presses for making ceramic articles from a free-flowing material. By setting the venting gap either from the diaphragm side or from the coating side, it is intended to allow for the different preconditions regarding the nature of the material and the ceramic article to be made. For setting the venting gap (40), the supporting part (24) is provided with an insert (42) in the form of a threaded ring. Acting together with the external thread on the supporting part (24), the diaphragm (18) is raised as and when required and the venting gap is constricted.
