In the case of a screw press having a rotatably mounted spindle (5), a flywheel (8) which continuously rotates in one direction, a friction clutch, which is actuated by means of a pressure medium and the clutch disc (12) of which can be used to establish the frictional connection of the spindle to the flywheel to produce the working stroke, and a reverse-rotation drive for the return stroke of the tool carriage (3), the outlay on production, assembly and operation in particular, and also the space requirement, are reduced when the axially moving masses of the tool carriage (3) and the tool holder are balanced by means of a pneumatic counterweight (13) and the spindle (5) is provided with a reverse-rotation drive (33;17) which is designed as a torque storage drive. <IMAGE>

Bei einer Spindelpresse mit einer drehbar gelagerten Spindel (5), einem in einer Drehrichtung ununterbrochen umlaufenden Schwungrad (8), einer druckmittelbetätigten Reibungskupplung, über deren Kupplungsscheibe (12) zum Arbeitshub die reibschlüssige Verbindung der Spindel mit dem Schwungrad herstellbar ist und einem Rückdrehantrieb zum Rückhub des Werkzeugschlittens (3), werden insbesondere der Fertigungs-, Montage- und Betriebsaufwand sowie der Platzbedarf verringert, wenn die axial bewegten Massen von Werkzeugschlitten (3) und Werkzeughalter mit Hilfe eines pneumatischen Gewichtsausgleichs (13) ausgeglichen sind und die Spindel (5) mit einem als Drehmoment-Speicherantrieb ausgebildeten Rückdrehantrieb (33;17) versehen ist. <IMAGE>
