[origin: EP0564987A1] There is a needle bar, in which a carrier bar 1 is provided with a groove 4 which is limited by a longer leg 3 and a shorter leg 2 and in which is inserted a carrier strip 5 of a needle strip 6, the said carrier strip 5 having a strip core, consisting of plastic 12 and receiving needles 7, and two metal bands 10 limiting these. It is desirable if, despite the metal bands assigned to the metal legs, the carrier strip is firmly seated permanently in the groove, without adhesion, by clamping. This is achieved in that the preliminary thickness of the carrier strip 5 is 8.5 - 11.5% larger than the groove width, in that there is provided between the needles 7 and each metal band 10 a layer 13 which is formed by the plastic and the thickness of which amounts to at least 4% of the preliminary thickness of the carrier strip 5, and in that the plastic 12 can be compressed elastically with a modulus of elasticity of 1,400 - 1,800 N/mm<2>. The compression in volume of the plastic is elastic, so that the carrier bar is permanently seated sufficiently firmly in the groove. <IMAGE>
