[origin: EP0565152A1] The invention provides a silver complex diffusion transfer reversal process in which an information-wise exposed photographic silver halide emulsion layer material is transformed by a silver solvent into soluble silver complex compounds which are allowed to diffuse into an image receiving element and are reduced therein with a developing agent in the presence of an alkaline solution to form a silver image. The invention is characterised in that the silver halide emulsion layer includes a polyoxyethylene thioether and the alkaline solution contains a tertiary alkanolamine and is substantially free of primary and secondary alkanolamines, and preferably contains a tertiary alkanolamine. The process achieves improved long-term ambient storage and/or usage of the alkaline solution without loss of overall process quality.
