[origin: EP0565267A1] A cathode ray tube (CRT) has a deflection yoke (22) and an internal conductive layer (20). A conductive guard screen (24) is positioned between the deflection yoke (22) and the internal conductive layer (20) for reducing capacitative coupling between them. This reduces AC electric fields emitted from the viewing surface of the CRT. The guard screen comprises a flexible circuit wrapped around the outside of the CRT, the circuit having interdigitated sets of conductive tracks or fingers. <IMAGE>
