A cutting device (10) for a yarn (36) running onto a cross-wound package (12) in a traversing triangle, with a knife (5) located below the traversing triangle and with a yarn-lifting device (42) which is movable between positions located below and above the traversing triangle, either remains in its upper position as long as the yarn (36) is being wound as a final winding (58) in parallel turns around the cross-wound package (12) or, for the purpose of avoiding the final winding (58), is moved downwards immediately after the grasping of the yarn (36), and guides the yarn (36) up against the cutting edge (50a) of the knife (50) in order to cut it. <IMAGE>

Eine Schneidvorrichtung (10) für einen in einem Changierdreieck auf eine Kreuzwicklung (12) laufenden Faden (36) mit einem unterhalb des Changierdreiecks gelegenenen Messer (5) und einer Fadenhebevorrichtung, (42) die zwischen unter- und oberhalb des Changierdreiecks gelegenen Stellungen bewegbar ist, in ihrer oberen Stellung entweder so lange verbleibt, daß der Faden (36) als Schlußwicklung (58) in parallelen Windungen um die Kreuzwicklung (12) gewunden wird oder zwecks Vermeidung der Schlußwicklung (58) unmittelbar nach dem Ergreifen des Fadens (36) abwärts bewegt wird und den Faden (36) gegen die Schneide (50a) des Messers (50) führt um ihn zu schneiden. <IMAGE>
