[origin: EP0566045A1] A column unit, in particular a column unit for chairs, comprising a base tube (310) and a gas spring (318) additionally contains an axially movable guide bush (314) which is inserted so as to be axially movable in the upper end (310b) of the basic tube (310) and, in turn, surrounds a part (318b) of the gas spring (318) so as to be axially movable. An extension movement of the guide bush (314) in conjunction with extension of the gas spring (318) can be guaranteed inter alia by carrying stop means (326, 314g). Limiting this extension movement takes place by extension-limiting stop means (316, 312g), the latter being designed to be releasable for demounting the column unit. <IMAGE>
