[origin: EP0566111A1] A switch (1) signals orientation changes and accelerations of its housing. The switch housing contains a permanent magnet (13) (which is supported such that it can move) and at least one reed switch (15). The permanent magnet (13) is suspended like a pendulum. The reed switch (15) is arranged underneath the circular segment described by the pendulum, in the region in which the magnetic field acts. The longitudinal axis (16) of the reed switch (15) is aligned approximately in the direction of the pendulum oscillations. <IMAGE>
