[origin: EP0566477A1] In a steam generator which is fitted to a nuclear power station and includes inverted U-tubes connected onto a tube plate (12) and surrounded by an inner wrapper (26) which accommodates a lower flow distribution plate (41) in its bottom, the space (46) termed the "tube lane" between the tube plate (12), the flow distribution plate (41) and the hot and cold branches of the tubes, contains a deflection and blowdown (vent) box (44). This box (44) extends over the entire length of the tube lane and, in height, as far as the vicinity of the upper edge of the inner wrapper (26). It is provided on its lower face with vent orifices (50) and is both used for deflection and draining secondary fluid in the vicinity of the tube plate (12). <IMAGE>
