Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0566818A1] A forging and rolling installation (1) for the production of bar-shaped workpieces is made up of a forging unit (2), which has forging tools (17,18) that act radially on the workpiece W guided in the longitudinal direction by means of workpiece guides, and of a rolling mill (3) arranged on the output side of the forging unit (2) and comprising at least two roll stands (4). In order to permit efficient, high-quality and high-output forging and rolling, an intermediate storage location (7) for the forged workpiece, with a length matched to that of the workpiece, is provided between the forging unit (2) and the rolling mill (3), the workpiece guides consist of two clamping heads (9,10) which can be moved backwards and forwards at both ends of the forging unit (2), accommodate rotatable and translatable chucks (11,12) and are intended to provide rotation and longitudinal feed of the workpiece W, and the forging unit (2) has forging tools (17,18) which preferably operate in two forging planes (I,II) situated in series. <IMAGE>
