[origin: JPS62258320A] PURPOSE:To provide a pharmaceutical preparation containing omeprazole for oral administration and effective in influencing the secretion of gastric acid in use and protecting the gastric and intestinal cells. CONSTITUTION:The objective pharmaceutical preparation for oral administration can be produced by using a core containing omeprazole as an active component in combination with an alkali-reactive compound or containing an alkali salt of omeprazole and optionally an alkali-reactive compound and coating the core with one or more inert intermediate coating layers. The intermediate coating layer is composed of (A) a tablet excipient soluble or quickly decomposable in water or a water-soluble film-forming polymeric compound (e.g. polyethylene glycol) and optionally (B) a pH-buffering alkaline compound (e.g. magnesium oxide) and is positioned between the alkali-reactive core and an enteric outer layer. The omeprazole is administered at a dose of 1-400mg/day in 1 - several separated doses.
