Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0567736A1] The invention relates to a hydrostatic motor with a rotatable rotor in a casing and a braking device in an annular space between the casing and the rotor. The braking device comprises at least two rotationally fixed braking surfaces, of which at least one is displaceable in the axial direction of the hydrostatic motor. The motor also has at least one pressure line for hydraulic fluid, an axially displaceable pressure element with a pressure surface which can be acted upon by the hydraulic fluid and bounds a pressure space, and at least one compression spring acting upon the pressure element in the direction of the displaceable braking surface. In this arrangement, the displaceable braking surface is held in engagement with the other braking surface by the hydraulically balanced pressure element and can be released from braking engagement by axial displacement of the pressure element under the action of the force of the hydraulic fluid. To achieve smaller useful dimensions of the hydrostatic motor, at least in the radial direction, it is proposed that the pressure line (22) extend axially through the pressure element (20) as far as the pressure surface (27) and that the pressure space (28, 30) include an axial annular gap (30) between the pressure element (20) and the casing (1) and extend as far as an annular body (32) movable relative to the pressure element (20). <IMAGE>
