[origin: EP0567739A1] A luminaire has a holder which supports a lamp mount fitting (12) and in which at least one rotary adjusting device (A) having two main rotary adjusting parts is included. One of the rotary adjusting parts (18) can be moved in the manner of a circular arc relative to the other rotary adjusting part (24) in a plane of rotation about a common rotation axis (y), and can be locked in a force-closed and self-closed fashion on the other rotary adjusting part (24). One rotary adjusting device (A) which is capable of reliably holding very large load torques, is provided by arranging that an approximately strip-shaped circular element (18) which is held at a distance from the rotation axis (y) by means of at least one spacer (16) is formed by one rotary adjusting part by means of force-closed or self-closed means (19) which cooperate with force-closed or self-closed means (30) of the other rotary adjusting part (24). <IMAGE>
