[origin: EP0567753A1] The invention provides a holding device having a suction cup (1) which holds a movable plate (2) in such a way that said plate is automatically released in a desired position without applying increased force or using a venting duct with a controlled valve. This is achieved in that the suction lip (3) consists of a material with good sliding properties, and in that the plate (2) has a bore (5), said bore (5) and the suction cup (1) being arranged in such a way that, in a plate position in which the holding device is intended to release, the bore (5) passes the suction lip (3) due to the displacement (6) of the plate (2). <IMAGE>
