Abstract (en)

Method making it possible to cool a moving yarn (2) at the exit of an oven (5), before it passes into a treatment member, such as a false-twist spindle (7), involves causing the said yarn to pass inside a tube (10), through which a stream of fresh air or another gaseous product flows, the said airstream being directed in a direction opposite to the direction of passage of the yarn. It is characterised in that, during this cooling phase, the yarn is kept in contact with a bearing or guiding surface arranged coaxially on the inside of the tube (10), through which passes the airstream which flows into the space located between the outer tube (10) and the said guiding surface. <IMAGE>
