Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0568847A1] The invention relates to a device for conveying sheets in a printing machine, in which the sheets are conveyed by gripper carriages which are linked to endless chains driven by chain wheels, and in which a transfer of the sheets takes place between the gripper carriages and the sheet-conveying cylinders in the region of the chain wheels. A transfer drum of this type is to be designed in such a way that a freshly printed sheet or a sheet provided with a varnish coating can be transferred to the sheet-conveying cylinder without smearing and can be transferred from said cylinder without smearing. The chain wheels (8) around which the chains (7) are guided do not have a continuous shaft, but are mounted in each case at one end of a shaft stub (11), which stubs are each mounted rotatably in a side-frame wall of the printing machine. Mounted in each case at the other end of the shaft stubs is a gearwheel (12) which meshes, for example, in each case with a gearwheel (13) mounted on both journals of the sheet-conveying cylinder (1). Consequently, the synchronising of the pair of chain wheels does not take place by a continuous shaft, but in each case via a pair of gearwheels, for example of the sheet-conveying cylinder. <IMAGE>
