Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0568883A1] The system for the management of faults for the further processing of an overlapping (imbricated) stream (S) of printed products has a monitoring element (1) which generates a measurement signal correlated to the overlapping stream. The measurement signal is interpreted cyclically by an interpretation element (2) by edge-sampling and/or peak-sampling. If a cycle of the measurement signal does not have the correct number of edges or has a maximum peak lying outside a tolerance range, fault signals are generated which are transmitted to a control element (3). The control element (3) generates control signals corresponding to the fault signals for at least one controlled element (10, 20, 30), which is arranged downstream, with respect to the product stream, of the monitoring element (1), in that said control element (3) delays the fault signal essentially by the distance between the monitoring element (1) and controlled element (10, 20, 30). The controlled element (10, 20, 30) eliminates faulty positions or transforms them into other faulty positions. The system is used for detecting, transforming and/or eliminating empty positions, positions occupied by faulty products, positions occupied by an incorrect number of products and/or positions, in the overlapping stream, occupied by products displaced in the conveying direction. <IMAGE>
