[origin: EP0568910A1] The invention relates to a method for cleaning a coating installation (10), which has a colour changer (12) with a feed (21) for compressed air, a feed (22) for cleaning agent and also at least two feeds (23) for different colours, as well as a feed line (16), connected to the colour changer (12), and a spray atomiser, arranged at the free end of the feed line (16). Each time there is a change of colour, the said coating installation is cleaned by feeding the cleaning agent and compressed air, the cleaning agent being atomised with air to form a cleaning fluid before it is introduced into the coating device (10). Then, as a mist of air and cleaning agent, it flows via the feed (21, 22) into the colour changer (12) and removes any remains of colour adhering to the inner wall of the flowed-through colour changer (12) and the feed line (16), entrains the said remains and is directed out of the feed line (16) before reaching the spray atomiser (18). <IMAGE>
