The invention relates to a method for preparing multilayer coatings (finishes) in which at least one thermocurable clear coat is applied to a substrate provided with a pigmented base coat and is fully cured at elevated temperature, after which at least one further clear coat based on radiation-curable coating compositions is applied and fully cured under the action of actinic radiation. Finishes of particularly good visual quality are obtained.

Beschrieben wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Mehrschichtlackierungen, bei dem auf ein mit einer pigmentierten Basislackschicht versehenes Substrat mindestens eine wärmehärtbare Klarlackschicht aufgebracht und in der Wärme ausgehärtet wird, worauf mindestens eine weitere Klarlackschicht auf der Basis von strahlenhärtbaren Überzugsmitteln aufgetragen und diese unter Einwirkung von aktinischer Strahlung ausgehärtet wird. Man erhält Lackierungen von besonders guter optischer Qualität.
