[origin: EP0569815A1] In evaluation systems (analysis systems) for electrostatic filters, filter voltage and filter current must be communicated from a transformer cabinet (1) to a control cabinet (12). The use of optical waveguides (10) in conjunction with a frequency modulator (9) and a frequency demodulator (14) ensures reliable data transmission in a simple and, surprisingly, also a cost effective manner. Moreover, the use of optical waveguides (10) for data transmission and of copper cables (17) only for the power supply of the frequency modulator (9) virtually precludes the possibility of incorrect wiring which hitherto could lead to destruction or breakdown of equipment. <IMAGE>
