Abstract (en)

[origin: JPH0622803A] PURPOSE: To provide a buckle for a vehicle safety belt system having a lock mechanism controlled by inertia, and which can be readily integrated with an existing buckle, providing a high safety limit and dispensing with a playing stroke of a release button. CONSTITUTION: This buckle for a safety belt device provided with a preliminary tension device engages with the preliminary tension device and is prevented by a lock claw 42 from opening contrary to an intention at the beginning and ending of a preliminary tension stroke. At the beginning of the preliminary tension stroke, an inertial field 56 moves the lock claw 42 to a lock position by a mass inertial effect and prevents a release button 30 from moving in the preliminary tension direction R relative to a base. Since the center of gravity C explores a predetermined relative position with respect to the position 44 of the device of the lock claw 42, the lock claw 42 stays at the lock position at the end of the preliminary tension stroke and comes off the inertial field 56.
