[origin: EP0569937A1] A workstation (1, 2, 3), with an upper part (6) and with a lower part (7), movable relative thereto, with an associated lifting device for executing the relative movement of the two parts, is provided. So that the lifting device on the one hand can exert high necessary forces for bringing together and closing the two parts, as is necessary, for example, in vacuum-packaging machines, but on the other hand can be constructed in a simple way, the lifting device has at least one pair of guide rods (9, 10, 11) which are oriented parallel to one another and which are connected to one another at their top end by means of the upper part (6) and at their bottom end by means of at least one yoke (18). Furthermore, the lifting device has guide bushes (23) which run on the guide rods and which are connected to the lower part (7). Finally, there is provided a toggle-lever system (24, 25) which is connected to the guide bushes (23) and which is designed so that, in the angled position, it keeps the lower part (7) in the lower position via the guide bushes (23) and, in its extended position, keeps the lower part (7) in the uppermost position. <IMAGE>
