[origin: EP0570332A1] The profile according to the invention is joined together from a basic profile (2) and at least one shaped profile (4). The basic profile (2) and the shaped profile (4) rest against one another in particular regions (14.1-14.5) and are connected intimately to one another at those points, for example by spot welding, thus resulting in an overall useful thickness in these regions which corresponds to the sum of the thicknesses of the basic profile (2) and the shaped profile (4). The basic profile (2) is expediently a profile of simple cross-section and preferably of greater thickness than the shaped profile (4). The desired, relatively complicated shape of the overall profile, which, for example, can have projecting webs (6.1, 6.2) and rounded sections (8.1, 8.2), is composed of the basic profile (2) and the shaped profile (4) which is generally of a more complicated shape. In comparison with the prior art, the proposed profile structure allows a considerably more cost-effective manufacture and additionally broadens the possibilities in terms of precision and shaping. <IMAGE>
