[origin: WO9214659A1] A flexible intermediate bulk container is produced by cuts (29) down from a top edge of a tubular base panel to provide opposing portions (30), which are then joined at their top edges to form a lifting loop (31), and opposing flaps (40) which are extensible below the loop (31) to provide a substantially flat, secure top closure to the filled container. The resultant container has a well defined aperture for lifting purposes and, when filled and stored out in the open, good stability in high winds. The flaps (40) may be secured prior to or subsequent to filling of the container.
