[origin: EP0571909A2] An offset rubber blanket for a blanket cylinder without a gap for applying a printing image to sheet or web material is made up of a fitted backing plate with a layer of rubber applied thereto. The beginning and the end of the backing plate and of the layer of rubber are connected to one another in such a way that the outer circumferential surface of the rubber blanket is continuous and without gaps. In the operating position, the rubber blanket sheaths the blanket cylinder in the form of a sleeve with frictional engagement, but releasably.
