[origin: WO9109352A1] An electrophotographic printer has an electrothermal fixing station (23) with a heated fixing roll (86) and a feed roll (87) which can be pivoted onto and away from the latter. Before the actual fixing, the reel paper is heated. To this end, it is guided around the fixing roll (86) through a predetermined winding angle (U) by an unheated, pivotable paper guide saddle (93). To ensure offset-free and smudge-free fixing of the printed image on the reel paper (12), the movements of the elements of the fixing station (23) and of the paper transport during starting and stopping are co-ordinated so that there is no relative movement between the fixing roll (86) and the toner image on the reel paper when the reel paper (12) is laid on the fixing roll (86) and when reel paper (12) peels off the fixing roll (86).
