Abstract (en)
The process serves for manufacturing diamond jewelry. In order to be able to provide diamonds having a multiplicity of different outer appearances and still having the advantage of scratch-resistant facets, provision is made for depressions (22) to be burnt into a ground polycrystalline diamond by means of a laser jet and for a coating then to be vapour-deposited on it, which coating is removed again by grinding over the ground facet (20), but remains in the depressions. <IMAGE>

Das Verfahren dient zur Herstellung von Diamantschmuck. Um Diamanten mit einer Vielzahl unterschiedlicher äußerer Erscheinungsformen und nach wie vor dem Vorteil kratzfester Flächen anbieten zu können, ist vorgesehen, daß in einen geschliffenen polykristallinen Diamanten mittels eines Laserstrahls Vertiefungen (22) eingebrannt werden und dann eine Beschichtung aufgedampft wird, die durch Überschleifen der geschliffenen Fläche (20) wieder entfernt wird, aber in den Vertiefungen erhalten bleibt. <IMAGE>
