[origin: EP0573727A1] A gripper loom, the gripper heads (3a) of which are moved via insertion bands, has warp-thread bearing rails (4) and (5) which extend parallel to the reed (2) and which, in the embodiment illustrated, are fixed firmly to the slay (1). The gripper heads (3a) slide or fly over the warp threads (7b) of the bottom shed within a strip of the width (B). This strip, together with the fabric width (A), forms an area (AB) which designates the area on the warp threads (7b) which is covered by the feed gripper (3a) and by the take-up gripper (not shown). The warp-thread bearing rails (4) and (5) are arranged in such a way that, during the weft-thread insertion, the warp threads (7b) of the bottom shed are supported only outside the area (AB). <IMAGE>
