Abstract (en)
The invention relates to a motor-driven hand-operated belt sander, the abrasive belt (13) of which circulates by being guided on two rollers which are arranged on a housing (3) and of which one serves as drive roller (9) and the other serves as deflection roller (11), gap-like spacings (21) existing between the housing (3) and the abrasive belt (13). The object of keeping dangerous drawing-in gaps as small as possible for said belt sander is achieved in that the gap-type spacings (21, 23, 25) can be closed by closure means (27), in particular until only a minimal residual gap remains, with the result that particularly objects, preferably the fingers of the user, cannot fit into the gap-like spacings (21, 23, 25) or cannot be drawn in by the abrasive belt (13). Moreover, a switch (28) coupled to the closure means automatically reduces the circulation speed when the belt grinder is fitted with a nonwoven abrasive belt, with the result that the service life of the nonwoven abrasive belt is considerably increased. <IMAGE>

Für einen motorgetriebenen Handbandschleifer, dessen Schleifband (13) auf zwei an einem Gehäuse (3) angeordneten Rollen geführt umläuft, von dene eine als Antriebs- (9) und die andere als Umlenkrolle (11) dient und wobei zwischen dem Gehäuse (3) und dem Schleifband (13) spaltartige Abstände (21) bestehen, wird die Aufgabe, gefährliche Einzugsspalte so klein wie möglich zu halten, dadurch gelöst, daß die spaltartigen Abstände (21, 23, 25), insbesondere bis auf einen minimalen Restspalt, mit Verschlußmitteln (27) verschließbar sind, so daß insbesondere Gegenstände, vorzugsweise die Finger der Bedienperson, nicht in die spaltartigen Abstände (21, 23, 25) passen bzw. nicht vom Schleifband (13) eingezogen werden können. Außerdem wird durch einen mit den Verschlußmitteln gekoppelten Schalter (28) die Umlaufgeschwindigkeit bei Bestückung mit Vliesschleifband automatisch reduziert, so daß die Lebensdauer des Vliesschleifbandes deutlich erhöht wird. <IMAGE>
