Abstract (en)
A dye donor web loading apparatus (10) is provided for a thermal printer having a base (14) and a door (16). First and second guiding support assemblies (18) are attached to the door (16) and spaced apart the length of a donor web spool. The first guiding support assembly (18) has a first member movable between locked and unlocked positions and biased towards the locked position. The second guiding support assembly has a second member movable between locked and unlocked positions and biased towards the locked position. The members snap onto the spool when the spool is properly inserted. The members have tapered slots for receiving and guiding the donor spool. The members may be color coded, or the spools may have different lengths, or the web may be positioned differently on each spool, to prevent improper insertion of the spool. <IMAGE>
