[origin: EP0574818A2] Given a fireproof glazing, there is provided, at least on the side (9), of the pane (1), directed towards the fire and in the region of the rebate, a screening device (10) which can be activated and moved, in the event of a fire, independently of a pressing action on the pane. When a predetermined temperature is exceeded, the screening device (10) is shifted such that it entirely covers the edge region (24), of the pane (1), which is to be screened. The fact that screening and exertion of pressure on the pane are carried out separately offers the advantage that, when a predetermined temperature is exceeded, the screening device immediately fulfils its full protective action for the edge region and consequently keeps the pane edge cool for a relatively long period of time. The screening device (10) may have a slide (12) which is moved, in the event of a fire, by a pressure medium (11) which expands under the action of heat. <IMAGE>
