[origin: EP0575306A1] A cutting carriage (2) for a slicing machine has an automatic material feed which includes a slide (19) which is releasably mounted on both sides of a surface (8) for supporting the material to be cut in drive elements, especially the carriers (15, 16) of synchronous belt drives (11, 12). The supporting surface (8) integrally merges into side walls (9, 10) on which there is mounted the slide (19) which spans the supporting surface (8). Beneath the supporting surface (8) there is fastened an electric motor (14), the speed of which is preferably controlled, which drives the two synchronous belt drives (11, 12) and can be switched off in the event of failure to reach a threshold speed. <IMAGE>
