[origin: WO9216794A1] Device for mixing gas, liquids or pulverised solid substances with a gas flow (1), whirling (vortex) around an axis in the flow direction. The whirling gas flow is guided through a converging passage (4) and, during or after being charged with the substance, abruptly widens in cylindrical space (11), as a result of which vortex break down occurs and an exceptionally thorough mixing and/or atomizing of the substance is obtained. Application in a burner improves the combustion result, keeps the NOX-values low and prevents the flame from being blown off.

Dispositif servant à mélanger à un flux gazeux (1) tourbillonnant autour d'un axe dans le sens de l'écoulement, des substances gazeuses, liquides ou solides et pulvérisées. On fait passer le flux gazeux tourbillonnant dans un passage convergent (4). Pendant ou après le chargement du flux gazeux avec lesdites substances, ledit passage s'élargit brusquement pour former une enceinte cylindrique (11) dans laquelle le tourbillon se rompt, ce qui assure un mélange et/ou une atomisation exceptionnels. Lorsqu'il est mis en oeuvre dans un brûleur, ce dispositif améliore le rendement de combustion, limite le taux de NOX et évite l'extinction de la flamme.
