Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0575708A1] The invention provides an improved rock crusher for a tunnelling machine. The rock crusher is a constructional unit comprising a front wall, a rear wall in which a grid-type grate is located, and a bottom plate connected to the rear wall. The crushing tools and their actuating devices are arranged between the front wall and rear wall. Located in the rear wall 1 are openings 6 in the grid-type grate which are bent such that grid-type grate clearers 5, arranged on the side cheeks of the tool holders 2, can engage in the slots. The bottom guiding plate 7 is shaped such that it also rises to the centre between the crushing tools 12 which have been brought together. By this means, rocks are prevented from jamming in the grid-type grate or between crushing tools and guiding plate. The further embodiment envisages that the rock crusher may be pivoted, if the need arises, from a working position into a stand-by position, which in the circumferential direction is lateral. Because of this pivoting, in order to absorb radial forces when crushing the rocks there are provided pressure rollers 14 which bear against a guiding ring 13 on a perpendicular shield wall 11. <IMAGE>
