[origin: EP0575787A1] A folding apparatus which is intended to produce folded copies, having a device for folding a copy (4), consisting of a transporting cylinder (53), a first folding cylinder (2) which is provided with at least one first clamp (5, 6) for producing a first transversal fold of the copy and at least one second clamp (7, 8) for producing a second transversal fold running parallel to the first fold, and a second folding cylinder (3) which has at least one set of gripping hooks (9) and at least one insertion sheet (10). The folding device comprises a plurality of movable belts (11) which are partially wrapped around the second folding cylinder and are set in rotation by the latter, the movable belts running around rollers (17) which are mounted on an axle (18) which can assume the two following positions: - a first position for producing a single transversal fold in the copy, - a second position for producing a second transversal fold running parallel to the first fold in the copy. Application for producing a folding device having two automatically adjustable configurations, namely a configuration for producing a single transversal fold and a configuration for producing a second, parallel transversal fold. <IMAGE>
