[origin: EP0576320A1] - The invention relates to a system for the travel of vehicles forced mechanically to follow one or other of at least two travel lanes (12, 14) of the system which are connected to one another by means of at least one interchange (16). - According to the invention, the interchange (16) makes it possible for vehicles to change lanes by the selection, by each vehicle entering the interchange, of a specific route during its passage through the interchange; each lane comprises, upstream of the interchange, means (40) for detecting the arrival of the vehicle in the direction of the interchange (16); and the system comprises means for inhibiting the lane-change selection means associated with each vehicle, when the detection means (40) associated with the two lanes (12, 14) detect the simultaneous arrival of a vehicle on each of the two lanes. <IMAGE>
