[origin: EP0576390A1] The apparatus has lower and upper endless, circulating rubber bands (10, 11), between which fed sheets (2) are conveyed to a conveying-roller pair (3). The rollers (20, 21) of the pair (3) have wedge-shaped cutouts with stop shoulders, which are in alignment with one another in the basic position of the rollers. The sheets (2) butt against these shoulders and are collected to form a batch (55) which, upon a signal, are conveyed away by synchronous rotation of the rollers (20, 21) through a whole number of revolutions. The apparatus makes it possible to collect the sheets (2) efficiently to form a precise, aligned batch (5), this facilitating further processing. <IMAGE>
