[origin: EP0576784A1] The present invention relates to a boring cutter head (1) for boring tapping holes on shaft furnaces, consisting of a steel-pipe piece (4) and at least two elongate steel pieces (6) which are arranged on the circumferential surface (8) of the steel-pipe piece (4), distributed over its circumference and projecting radially therefrom as well as extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis (10) of the pipe and by a length (A) beyond an end face (12) of the steel-pipe piece (4). Each steel piece (6) has on its front end, which projects beyond the steel-pipe piece (4), two roof-shaped end faces (18, 19) with an intermediate cutting edge (20) which runs from the inner region of the steel piece (6), which faces the longitudinal axis (10) of the pipe, to the outer region, the roof-shaped end faces (18, 19) being designed asymmetrically in relation to the cutting edge (20). <IMAGE>
