Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9216431A1] A tubular package, especially for medical care items like bandages or rigid dressings, consisting of a tough film web made of a plurality of bonded layers which is made into a tube with a longitudinal seam enclosing the packed item by adhesively securing or welding its opposite edge regions and sealed at the ends by two parallel transverse seams and has at least one rapid and complete tear-off aid to opening so that the content may be extracted, in which at least one of the transverse seams (1, 2) has a controllably predetermined weak point in the form of a notch (3) cutting into the transverse seam (1) or (2) over only the outer part of its width and, starting from the region of this notch (3) there is a weakened tear line (4) over the length of the package (10) along which at least one layer (12) of the bonded assembly forming the film (14) has tearing aids (5), e.g. notches, perforations, thermal embrittlement or grooving, and at least the covering layer (11) is not weakened.
