Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2686519A1] A device designed to be fitted to or built into a golf club such as a putter to assist in learning the correct club position, in particular for indoor or home putting practice. A transmitter unit (24) is releasably attached to the shaft (5) of the club (1) and comprises a laser diode (28) for transmitting a parallel light beam (25) towards an optical unit (26) having a cylindrical lens (31) above the club iron (7). The lens diffuses the light along a vertical plane to form a beam (18) directed at the ground (3) in front of the iron, whereby the player is able to see a line of light (19) on the ball and on the ground indicating the direction in which the ball (2) will travel depending on the position of the striking surface (8) of the iron. In one embodiment, the optical system may be supported by an arm attached to the shaft (5).
