[origin: EP0579017A1] A device for tensioning a printing plate on an impression cylinder is specified, having a front clamping unit which has register elements (16, 17) for attaching the printing plate (14) with its register punchings (50, 52) and in which the printing plate (14) can be clamped mechanically, hydraulically or pneumatically with the register punchings (50, 52) in contact. Furthermore, a rear clamping unit is provided for receiving and for clamping the printing plate (14) at its end opposite the register punchings, and a tensioning unit for tensioning the printing plate (14) in the circumferential direction of the impression cylinder. In order to guarantee correct contact of the printing plate with its register punchings against the register elements, sensor elements (48, 49, 68, 69) are provided, by means of which the complete contact of the register punchings (50, 52) against the register elements (16, 17) is checked. <IMAGE>
