Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0579520A1] The valve (1)is linked by a plunger tube (24) to a CO2 reservoir and equipped with an inner chamber (11) which has a safety purger. A safety valve in the coupling connects valve to the outlet nozzle, and comprises a ball (20) held by a small spring (21) against a ring (22) inside the coupling (13). The purging mechanism has a safety cover (7) forming a double shell which completely envelopes the distribution valve and has apertures (23) connecting the interior of the cover to the outside. The purger (18) is screwed into a cap (17) which closes the inner chamber (11), and the plunger tube (24) is clipped (25) to the lower end of the valve. Before the valve can be opened to discharge the CO2 in the extinguisher, its lever must be released by pulling upwards on a handle (6).
