Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0579592A1] The camshaft has several switchable cams with different axial offset, per valve. It is moved by a control device. The device consists of a shift link (10) with two or more helical opposite guide grooves (10'), and a catch (11), which is moved into the grooves by a trigger (12). The guide grooves end in release grooves (10"), and engagement of the catch in one of these defines various operational positions of the camshaft (3). The guide grooves are worked into the camshaft. The catch is secured against turning about the camshaft axis (3a), pref. is connected to the cylinder head via a housing (13) of the control device. The catch is formed by a spring ring around the camshaft.
