[origin: WO9216652A1] A method for detecting the presence of M. tuberculosis in a biological sample is provided, comprising the steps of: (a) treating cells contained within the biological sample to expose cellular nucleic acids; (b) incubating the cellular nucleic acids with a labeled M. tuberculosis specific probe under conditions and for a time sufficient for hybridization to occur; and (c) detecting the presence of the hybridized, labeled M. tuberculosis specific probe. Also provided within this invention is a polypeptide derived from M. tuberculosis.

On décrit un procédé de détection de la présence de M. tuberculosis dans un échantillon biologique, qui consiste à: (a) traiter les cellules contenues dans l'échantillon afin d'exposer les acides nucléiques cellulaires; (b) incuber les acides nucléiques cellulaires avec une sonde marquée spécifique de M. tuberculosis dans des conditions et pendant une période garantissant que l'hybridation ait lieu; et (c) détecter la présence de la sonde marquée et hybridée spécifique de M. tuberculosis. On décrit aussi un polypeptide dérivé de M. tuberculosis.
