[origin: EP0579888A1] A rotating scroll pump consists of a housing (1A), in which two displacement discs are arranged rotatably. The two displacement discs are in each case provided on one side with helically running ribs (19A, 20A, 21A, 22A) which for the purpose of forming conveying spaces (23A, 26A) engage in one another and seal with their free end sides against the opposite displacement disc. The helically running ribs are of multi-step design. The various steps are separated spatially from one another forming an interspace (24A) and the radially outer step has at least twice as many conveying spaces as the radially inner step (23A or 26A). Preferably, cooling means in the form of cooling ribs (30A) are provided in the interspace (24A) between the outlet of the radially outer step and the inlet of the radially inner step. <IMAGE>
