[origin: EP0581121A1] The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the oxygen-free packaging of goods. Attached to a container (10) for receiving the goods is a substance-receiving device (4), into which a substance, especially a liquid gas, capable of gas generation is metered. The substance located in the substance-receiving device (4) is made to generate gas and the gas obtained overflows into the container interior (5, 9). The gas displaces the oxygen located in the container interior (5, 9) and escapes into the atmosphere via the container edge (12). After the flushing of the container interior (5, 9), the container (10) is closed in a gas-tight manner by means of a cover (2). At the same time, the connection between the substance-receiving device and the container interior (5, 9) is also broken, so that gas can no longer overflow into the container. A passage orifice to the substance-receiving device (4) is provided in the cover (2), so that the gas obtained as a result of the gas generation of remaining substance can escape into the atmosphere. <IMAGE>
