[origin: EP0581122A1] The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the oxygen-free packaging of goods in a container (6) closable by means of a cover (2). A container (6) having a centrally arranged gas-distributing element (8) is proposed. A gas is blown onto the gas-distributing element (8) via a gas passage orifice (9) provided in the cover (2), is deflected in the horizontal direction by the gas-distributing element (8) and, uniformly distributed radially, is dispensed into the container interior (4, 5). The gas displaces the air located in the container interior (4, 5) and is emitted into the atmosphere via the container edge (10). After the container interior (4, 5) has been flushed with the gas, the container (6) is closed by means of the cover (2), in such a way that the connection between the gas passage orifice (9) and the container interior (4, 5) is broken, so that atmospheric oxygen can no longer penetrate into the container interior (4, 5) via the gas passage orifice (9). <IMAGE>
